Clinical Studies
In 2021, a study was carried out in collaboration between Dr. Fidel R. Cala, Head of Pulmonology at the General Calixto García University Clinical Surgical Hospital, Havana, Cuba, the Cuban Ministry of Health, the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Cuba and Milltons Ltd (United Kingdom) in patients with Cystic Fibrosis on long-term treatment with pancreatin 25,000.
Objective:
-To evaluate the evolution of digestive symptoms in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) when replacing their usual treatment (pancreatin) with Enzymax Forte.
-To evaluate the safety of treatment with Enzymax in the long term (6 months).
Results When changing long-term treatment with Pancreatin to Enzymax, the following are observed:
- 3 times fewer capsules (Enzymax Forte vs Pancreatin 25000) consumed per day
- > 20% reduction in overall mental and physical fatigue
- 80% reduction in constipation
- 80% reduction in gastrointestinal symptoms
- (incluyendo dolor abdominal, reflujo, náuseas, vómitos, etc.)
In 2023, a study was carried out on 105 patients with moderate and severe dyspepsia. Patients with an average age of 50 years took 1 capsule per day of Enzymax for 20 days and 2 capsules per day for 10 days.
Objective: The study analyzed both the reduction of symptoms (Total, frequency, intensity and impact) as well as the best form of administration of Enzymax. Symptoms were evaluated using the DYSPEPSIA INDEX.
The results show:
- Total symptom score reduced by 62% (64% at 1 cps vs. 63.5% - 2 cps)
- The frequency of symptoms was reduced by 62.8% (58% at 1 cps vs 64.7% -2 cps)
- Symptom intensity was reduced by 59.7% (58% at 1 cps vs. 60.4% - 2 cps)
- The impact of symptoms was reduced by 61.5% (55.5% at 1 cps vs. 63.9% - 2 cps)
- As can be seen, there are no statistically significant differences between the administration of 1 capsule for 20 days versus 2 capsules for 10 days, but there is a small difference in favor of administration of 2 capsules per day for 10 days.
Microbial enzyme complex in functional dyspepsia
Objective: to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a complex based on microbial enzymes as a dietary supplement in 40 patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) for 60 days. The levels of effectiveness were evaluated using different questionnaires.
The results show:
Supplementation with microbial enzymes was associated with statistically significant differences in terms of symptoms and severity of dyspepsia.
- Microbial enzymes had a significantly greater effect than placebo.
- No adverse effects or physical or clinical abnormalities were recorded.
